Here’s the list of the teams committed to playing:
Girls w/L.S.E., Slowride, Mad Greek, First Blood, AstroKitty, Love Garden, Sacred Sword, Eastsiders, West Coast Saloon, Channel 6, Replay, Weavers, Free State, and Henry’s, and Tellers.
If your team is on this list and should NOT be, please let me know.
We would like to have sixteen teams for the event……so, any team that wants to play and is the first to comment below, has the last spot. We are not sure about exact format other than teams will get play at least two games. And, I can tell you that games will be 7 innings in length with no referees. I’ll get the rest to you as soon as we know more.
Again, thanks for your patience.

Thanks to all who showed today’s ref clinic and for your continued contributions. Much of the league was represented and everyone seemed to enjoy the “Fenway” field at Douglas County Fairgrounds. The other small field to the west is called “Wrigley.” We’ll certainly see home runs at both fields. That’ll be fun….
Looks like the board will have a few more revisions to consider. We’ll get those amended as soon as humanly possible.
REGARDING THE TOURNAMENT: we’ll configure the format for this coming Sunday (May 3rd) and
the following Sunday (May 10th) OR just one of those dates. We do have access to our full slate of fields May 10th and that may factor into our decision. We’ll send something out to you no later than this Wednesday, April 29th. Please reconfirm your team’s desire to play via a response to me.

So, keep a watchful eye here for updates about this weekend re: weather. OR, contact your newly assigned Pool Representative (contact info below). If you haven’t already, please familiarize yourself with your Pool rep. This will prove useful for you and your squad. Also, the last day to sign up for the preseason tournament will be Sunday. We already have about 14 teams preparing to play. The tentative tournament date are May 3rd AND May 10th. We’ll try our best to get each team in as many games as possible.
Thank you for all your suggestions last night. It certainly makes our task easier when there are so many informed and contributing captains.

Be well. Deron

Fellow Kickballers,
KVKL would like to welcome Henrys, Channel 6, and Miltons to the 2009 roster. That said, here are the newly minted Conference/Division alignments:
Jayhawk Conference
John Brown Pool
Pita Pit, Henrys, Free State Brewery, Astrokitty Comics, Blue Collar Press
James Naismith Pool
First Blood, Mad Greek, Red Lyon Tavern, Slowride Roadhouse, Open Sky Landscaping
Carrie A. Nation* Pool
Jazzhaus, Yellow Sub, 23rd Street Brewery, West Coast Saloon, Channel 6 Toepokes
Wakarusa Conference
William S. Burroughs
Sacred Sword, Tellers, Miltons, Liberty Hall, Girls w/ Low Self-Esteem
Lucy Hobbs Taylor* Pool
Love Garden, Eldridge, Replay, Weavers, Solidarity
Langston Hughes Pool
Screamers, Eastsiders, Rangelife Records, Wildman Vintage, Miss Fortunes
Each Pool has a 1 thru 5 seed (team on the far left being the 1, far right the 5). Armed with the best information possible, the KVKL Board ranked the teams 1 thru 30 then placed them in Pools. The Pool’s are aligned SUBJECTIVELY to present the most balanced schedule possible. We think this will provide for excellent match ups all season long. A half-season schedule will be released shortly after the captain’s/co-captain’s meeting.
*We are proud in honoring two significant women in Northeastern Kansas history. See the links below for more information.
