kinda brings a tear to my eye. i will always have fond memories of south park-the squaters and old fellas drinking scope-pre sunday sales, watching the late great bottleneck play in a championship, dan clearing the sidewalk in a home run derby, louise's playing with some homeless players (especially the girl who thought 3rd was 1st), love garden killing the red lyon (bunting the bases full up by 20), mainly how south park made me feel that i was part of a downtown/bar league. it's sad, but we now have hobbs and much stronger league.

the only thing that bothers me here, is that i didn't think of the Rivalry Week idea, that would be an awesome addition to the season if we don't have any rain days, the Swiss Pairing thing would have been sweet, but i've only seen it used in smaller settings, not 32 teams...now to get busy with some preseason games

thanks, diana! looking forward to it, for sure. love the idea of starting earlier, having a rain out or (better yet) rivalry game. also like the idea of having some double header games during the season to play outside of league play. only downside of last year's 7-league and 3-rank play games is that our team would definately prefer a more competitive mix closer to the former format of 5-league and 5-rank. though, i'm guessing we are in the minority on this one.

Thanks for the open apology. Emotions were high and I know you wish you'd reacted differently, as you shared with me after the game. Personally, I'm still learning how to control those emotions that lead to poor sportsmanship as well as negative social interactions in general. I like to think I do a good job most of the time, but certainly struggle and come up short at times. Your letter proves that you've already learned from the experience, and I'm confident that the league will as well. You've done so much to improve and maintain KVKL, and in no way does this mitigate all you've done. I'm proud to be your teammate and I'm very grateful for all you've done.

Much needed message, Geoff. Group mentalities change over time and I believe this will be a learning lesson from which we can reorient our collective perspective. If that makes any sense at all...
