- 5:00 Home teams pick up equipment from YSC concessions (4:15-4:30): Johnnys, Honeybadgers, Invictus Fitness, Red Legs, R-Bar, Screamers, Jazzhaus, JB’s Califusion
- We will have banners for YSC 1 and YSC 2 today since there are no games at Hobbs.
- Tournament eligible players will be listed on all clipboards. Scorekeepers, please compare lineups to those lists!
- We still need some volunteer refs for the 8:00pm Boot semifinals on fields YSC 7 and YSC 8! There are no 9:30 games on those fields, so we’re counting on our KVKL community to help out the Boot teams playing at 8:00pm. We have a signup sheet if you’d like to help ref.
- Reffing assignments are different for the tournament! Check the note at the bottom of the pdf bracket, linked on the KVKL homepage. You will ref on the same field you play. This will help us try to keep games on time and minimize how many games are waiting on refs from other fields. 5:00 refs 6:30 games, 8:00 refs 9:30 games and vice versa. In the transition from second round to quarterfinals, there is some field switching so some 8:00pm games may have refs coming from other fields.
- HYDRATE! It is August summer in Kansas and it is HOT. Many of the below reminders for keeping the tournament running as close to on time as possible can also apply to ensuring games don’t last longer than necessary and defenses aren’t standing on the sunny fields for more than a few minutes at a time. If you have shade tents, we encourage you to bring them and make more shade for your team dugouts. Refs, an umbrella can give you shade on the field. Check on each other and listen to your bodies. Make sure you’re drinking water and replenishing electrolytes. Our 5:00pm and 6:30pm games will be the hottest. If you’d like to do a 5ish minute hydration/shade break around the 5th inning (think 7th inning stretch style), definitely feel free to do so!
- We only have lights until 11:30pm. It is important for games to start as close to on time as possible! This all starts with 5:00pm games starting at 5! If you like a pitch, kick it, even if it’s the first one. If you need to coach your kickers, do it a few kickers in advance so they’re ready to go when it’s time. Once your game ends, immediately clear your dugout! You can do any post game huddles outside the fields while the next game gets started. Do your warmups outside the fields while you wait for games to end so you’re ready to go once the field is available. It’s important for our earlier games to try to stay on time so the 9:30 games can start as close to 9:30 as possible and have lights for their full game!
- Any games that get called at 11:30pm because of lights and have played at least 5 full innings, will be considered complete. The score at the end of the last full inning will be considered the final score (per rule D.3).
- Winners of 9:30pm games (and 8:00pm games on YSC 7 & 8) will return all equipment to the YSC concessions (clipboard, brush, can bin, bag of cans, banners, etc.).
