Hobbs Legacy Project

Help Preserve a Lawrence Landmark!

The Municipal Stadium at Hobbs Park Legacy Project is underway — and we need your support!

We’re raising funds to preserve and protect Municipal Stadium — a historic field that’s been part of Lawrence life since 1947. Over the years, the stadium has hosted Negro League games, youth baseball, adult softball, and today serves as home to the Kaw Valley Kickball League — continuing a rich legacy of inclusive, community-centered recreation.

After decades of use, the grandstand and field are in need of repair and rehabilitation.

Your support will help fund a National Register of Historic Places nomination, which can unlock state and federal tax credits and grant funding to help pay for these much-needed upgrades — bolstering city investment and enabling matching opportunities for outside funding.

This community-led effort aims to kickstart a broader campaign that combines private donations with public support. ensuring this celebrated recreation space continues to bring people together for generations to come.
