From the Commissioner;
I would like to thank everyone for the very successful 2021 KVKL season. It was a year of many changes and challenges that we were all able to rise up to and take on with patience and understanding. This year we welcomed four new teams to the league each bringing with them new members, ideas, and personalities. We had a very successful Spring Charity Yard Sale thanks to the help of many of our KVKL charity volunteers. We raised 1,700 for the Ladybird Food Pantry which provided lunches to families during Covid.
Our main charity this year was Bert Nash Community Health Center. Our goal was to match the 10,000 dollars that we raised for the last few charities and not only were we able to meet our goal, but we were able to go above and beyond and donate 13,000 dollars to Bert Nash following the 2021 season. Our Charity Committee worked hard this year putting on the Disk Golf Tournament, Yard Games Day, and the 7th inning stretch challenges along with the Annual Charity Auction to help raise donations for Bert Nash.
As we enter our 20th year as a league we are looking at ways to move the league forward.
One change the board is implementing this year is to expand our board from seven to nine members. We feel that as our league grows so should our board. We are asking for our league members that are interested to fill out an application. We are looking for individuals that will be able to help in some of the following areas: financial knowledge (accounting, bookkeeping, taxes,etc), proficiency in technology (sound, video, live streaming, website design, WordPress), grant writing, knowledge of sports brackets/tournaments/relegation, party and event planning, soliciting donations or legal knowledge, and to be available in-season from 3:30pm to 11:00pm on Sundays. If you possess any of these skills please apply. Applicants should also be involved in things in the league meaning that you value the league and the community that is KVKL.
Applications will be taken from Jan 28th through Feb 13th.
Thinking ahead to next season, we are putting out a survey that we want as many people to fill out as possible. We are looking for information about what the KVKL community would like to see in our future. We would love to hear from all of you. That will be coming out in soon so be on the lookout.
I will be stepping down as Commissioner this year but will continue to be a member of the board and proud Harpie. We, the KVKL community, are lucky to have Ethan Fincham taking on the role of Commissioner for the 2022 season. It is going to be our 20th year and we are planning and working hard to make it a season to remember.
Thank you to my wonderful KVKL community,
Staci Ahlvers
