Rolling into Week 2 of the season, the schedule indicates several interesting match ups. Hopefully Mother Nature will keep her feelings to herself and the rain showers and thunder will miss all together throughout the evening. Other than a game of the week postponement last season I can’t recall a KVKL summer without a game in about 3 years. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me. I don’t ever want our games to be cancelled, but if they do I think we should all come up with an alternative solution where we all get together and have a ball…or maybe I should say a blast. I would offer my karaoke services, but unfortunately my karaoke machine bit the dust last year. If I get it repaired I’ll be sure to let everyone know in the event of future cancellations.
As for kickball, I think that games 2-7 (as listed below) all have potential to be excellent games; quite a few outside of pool play. I definitely plan on stopping by the Slowride vs. Asteroid Head game. For one, they are in my division so I’d like to see each of these teams compete, but they are also both very capable kickball teams.
I have no idea how to predict what will happen in the Los Matadores vs. Sword match up. I scrimmaged with Sword and they may have lost a bit of speed and power, but they still know how to play kickball. I picked against Sword this week for two reasons: 1.) I haven’t seen Los Matadores play as a full squad yet, but they definitely put up a convincing performance last week; and 2) I want to give Sacred Sword extra chalk board material so they give Los Matadores their all – because I know Sword players care what I have to say…
I’m also anxious to see if Dirty Mike and the Boys can bounce back after a tough loss last week in their GOTW. Channel 6 might give them a run for their money and you just never know what tricks Cougar has up his sleeves. He must feel they have the ship pointed in the right direction since this is his first time playing with the same team he played for in the previous season.
