I interrupt these airing of grievances to congratulate the winner of the bracket challenge, Paul “a Abdul” Santos. He correctly picked both champions, Los Luchos (of course) and Liberty Hall. One of his teammates told me he was like a kid in a candy store Sunday night, so I guess this is like telling him there is also a backroom full of his favorites—I take him for a Charleston Chews kind of guy. Or this is like offering chocolate covered snozberries (which taste like snozberries) to a kid with a sugary stomach ache. Whichever, congrats Paul! I posted full results below. You will notice your official blogging pundit all the way at the bottom. Needless to say, Sunday was not kind to my team or my bracket.
Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your readership and contribution to Sundays in the Park. We more than doubled or even tripled the traffic from its high two years ago (ie yesterday, the MMKU post had 150 hits and this month, the blog has had over 6,500 hits). This, in part, means all 3 of you reading this have nothing better to do; but, seriously and more importantly, it means more people are reading and contributing to the dialogue. Ultimately, I’m glad to see that this blog has become a way to enhance our little kickball community and summertime fun. I’ve had a great time as your official blogger, and I am ready to pass the torch. If anyone is interested in taking the reigns next season, let Mr. Kickball, Deron Belt, know. Thanks again all for making this another cherished season!
